Disclaimer this is from my personal perspective and work, and may not be how you will find one to work with, however it may help! Also, you do not need to work with deities to be a witch, or even believe in them.\n.\n?Learn about yourself and the deities. What aspects of the craft are you drawn to? Nature? Perhaps a nature deity. If you take pride in study and knowledge, perhaps a deity that governs wisdom. The moon? Growth? Death and rebirth? Look at your life and the lessons you've learned, this can connect. Learning about pantheons of deities can shed some light on what you're intuitively or physically drawn towards.\n.\n?Belief, offerings, signs. Making offerings to a deity can be a way to get in contact. It's simple and can lead to signs. Perhaps you're getting signs already and haven't realised? Animals? Items? Words? Find who they may connect to. Deities often find you when you're ready and have that belief. Offering sachets are also nice and simple.\n.\n?Patience. Do not expect this to be an overnight process. This journey can take years and you may always be deepening that relationship and learning new things.\n.\n?Dedication, respect. As with all spirit and deity work this commands respect. They can be great allies and wonderful for your growth but they need respect. Dedication in your thoughts, offerings, acts etc. Sometimes this can be related to the deity, if it's nature oriented then take pride in looking after the earth for example. Be cautious and aware of deities from cultures that already have belief structures around them, again this is about respect. In my experience things can get chaotic if you call deities at a whim to do X Y Z without the proper respect for the energies (although debatably manmade.)\n.\n?Growth. As you grow so may your path and this may lead to others, those you work with may change, but again do so with respect.\n.\nFinally, never underestimate the power of belief. I'm still feeling poorly so today I've been meditating a lot focussing on healing and rest. I thought I would share a little visualisation that works well with lodolite but can work well with any stone or adapted. It works great with any clearish stones with inclusions, the kind you could get lost in.\n.\nI don't get stones outside of trusted people anymore, but I did recently get these two gorgeous lodolite towers from the wonderful @gemstone.emporium who is a brilliant heart-centered women who I respect and recommend! She usually has some rare and interesting pieces.\n.\nFor this meditation you need a light source, sunlight is good or candlelight near the stone, both will effect the energy differently. Find somewhere quiet or light music you enjoy (I choose forest inspired music with no lyrics but sometimes chanting). Stare deeply into the crystal and notice all the different inclusions and unique qualities of the stone. Visualise the environment that would suit your stone.\n.\nFor example the larger tower is a mixture of reds and greens so I see an autumnal forest with mossy trees and roots, where the leaves crunch beneath your feet. The smaller is a fresh misty green so I see a vibrant forest with waterfalls where standing close you feel the water haze on your skin. See the world your stone creates. Explore it in your mind, let it guide you. Discover the secrets it has to share with you. I often find spirit comes through in meditations such as this. Write down what you see if you like and date it. Messages that come through may take time to make sense or just be one piece of a bigger puzzle.\n.\nHope this helps! It might be time to set some rules or create some protective magick. Perhaps define where our material and spiritual lives meet and balance the two. In life it might be worth setting some clear boundaries whether physically or magickally to help with issues you may be experiencing. Alternatively it may be time to cut some cords. The athame is a powerful tool, use the energy wisely.\n.\nYule \/ Rebirth - After this rough period energetically we see the energy of rebirth and reinvention. It doesn't matter the time of year and the season, rebirth is essential. Take stock of what you've been going through and plot the next chapter. Is it time to do this differently? If so, how? What lessons have we recently learned? Now is a good time to change things up and move forwards in the way we want, leaving behind the old and embracing the new. We've been through a lot in a short space of time and that will happen again, but how we go through those periods shape the way we leave them.\n.\nHandfasting \/ Union - Not necessarily about love as such (But it could be if you're considering taking a new or next step in a relationship) but can also symbolise your dedication to your craft and future commitments, getting serious. This has been a lovely mini journey giving you more of an insight into my personal craft. Lastly with something very close to my heart, so close that I don't actually talk about it too often, at least not my personal views.\n.\nI know not all those that practice believe in deities and spirits in the traditional sense. There's a wonderful video on @gatherthyme 's channel that may be useful to those who do not or are looking for resources.\n.\nFor me personally, working with spirit in general, spirits and deities is integral to my craft. From offerings to ritual work, invocation to guidance - I work with them frequently. I've been surrounded by spirit workers since a child, whether that be mediumship work or fellow witches. I've seen many incredible things and had intense experiences that can only be explained by their existence. It is one of the pillars of my personal practice.\n.\nI do work with a matron deity primarily, but I keep this to myself except for a close circle around me. I started getting hints of them when I was around 12-14 years old and this continued getting gradually more intense until I was ready to start more serious work with them around 6 years ago. So it was many years into my practice before I was more seriously involved with them but they've always been around. This figure shown here was a gift when I was 15, and it's not until 16 years later that I felt  ready to use this. PS a lot of my altar tools are silver tone or iron as I'm very drawn to that! Featured is a spirit bell and chalice too.\n.\nDeity and spirit work for me is a slow and patient process that demands respect. Bit by bit I've added in and done more over the years but if you want to explore this part of the path I suggest taking things slowly and allowing things to happen naturally. Deities in my experience tend to make themselves known if \/ when you're ready. Next up on the challenge tag I thought I'd include one of my main passions. Crafting things! Feel free to tag along with the challenge see mine and @thxvvxtchx 's recent post for details!\n.\nSomething I've always been passionate about is my art and making things. I come from an English writing and art background and specialised in photography. It took me a little while to realise that I could indeed make my own tools and such and once I did I haven't stopped (and that was about 18 years ago haha!)\n.\nIn this photo are a blend of recent and not so recent creations. The wand with the green, yellow and black around the tip was the first I ever made from a fallen willow branch and quartz point as well as the colours for my favourite elements earth and fire. I made it when I was 17! The other wand is a more recent one in the last few weeks with brass and various gems.\n.\nIn the front is another recent creation. A scrying mirror inspired by fantasy and the fae. It has a touch of metallic blue within it also. That I made from an old Christmas decoration and it's so far removed form how it once looked!\n.\nWe've also got some clay runes I recently made with a copper nugget effect and oxide and in the very back an intention oil and some bottle pendants with charms gems and herbs within.\n.\nIt's so rewarding making your own blends, tools and oils and such.
